The Math and Science of OOBLECK!

Posted by Laura on Wednesday Jun 9, 2010 Under Home Schooling, Math, Science

It wouldn’t be surprising, if many of you have already heard of and made some ‘Oobleck’, with your kids.  Some may know this crazy-fun concoction by another name.  My sister says they call it ‘Goop’.

My kids have indeed made and played with Oobleck before.  I first heard about it… Continue reading

Your Kids Might Dig This, Too!

Posted by Laura on Saturday May 22, 2010 Under Games, Home Schooling, Science

My cousin and her daughter (my God daughter) came down a couple of months ago, for a girl’s overnight with myself and my own 2 girls, and so thoughtfully, she had brought some great gifts for the kids! It was so sweet.  It was unexpected and unnecessary, but I do love gifts that are… Continue reading

Incubation & Embryology of the Chick / Chick Coloring

Posted by Laura on Wednesday Mar 31, 2010 Under Home Schooling, Science

Math Games

Posted by Laura on Tuesday Nov 24, 2009 Under Home Schooling

Our three second graders, { J, O & S}, have been working pretty hard in math, lately.  They were getting stuck on a particular concept, and so taking advantage of the perks of home schooling, we didn’t move on in their workbooks until they ‘got it’.  We had some extra long math classes even, working on that concept.  So I decided we needed a little FUN with math… Continue reading

The Joy of Reading

Posted by Laura on Sunday Nov 1, 2009 Under Home Schooling

Last March I blogged about our then 3 six year olds reading their first chapter book, Nicholas – A Massachusetts Tale. I am not even kidding!  A box, from the place we ordered, with NOTHING in it.

The mailman thinks the box must have opened in Springfield, MA—and they didn’t know what was in the box, and so they just sent the box so we would… Continue reading
